The pace of life is often humdrum, routine--even boring. The twists and turns
within this continuum seem random. Sometimes on the lighter side, perhaps
a eureka moment in there. Occasionally profoundly tragic ... where
unforeseen events
may change things forever, and to our grief. But during those
long and mundane stretches we have a great opportunity to drink from the
waters of
inspiration ... to move toward fulfilling the poetry that our souls call for,
quietly, from each of us.
In classical Greek legend, the Muses gained inspiration and knowledge from
drinking from the spring in the city of Peria (in southern Greece). Whether
we travel to Peria and drink its spring water or we sit quietly and drink
in the inspiration from the larger universe, the results are the same.
Eventually we gain insights bound to transform our lives.
This collection, for instance, was born out of one of my Pierian Spring
moments; that was when I decided to collect my scattered notes and
mumblings into a coherent bunch of thoughts that I could draw upon.
