What inspires people toward greatness? Maybe it's just people doing what they've discovered they love; something they have found that they do well. If you ask what stirs people toward the excellence of purpose, I think you have only to look at their ideals. Ideals can become guideposts.

Joesph Campbell said that by following our bliss, doors would open! It was, he said, as tho there were "unseen helping hands" guiding us.

Ideals can engineer wonderful achievement and drive determination. They can liberate enthusiasm. They help us toward the limitlessness of our potential. In the end, I believe that the driving thought behind our standards and goals do become their own realization. Simply put, our ideals become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Beacons

What breathes the sunshine of purpose into our days
stirring us to excellence?
Ideals gleaned after studied deliberation become
blueprints that can guide us along this great Way--
yardsticks that measure ultimate goals.

Can there be a higher impulse than aiming for the summit--
toward the mystical doors of our bliss?
Ideals engineer grand achievements,
indicating direction and reach, stretching potential!

What inspires determination,
liberates the virtue of enthusiasm?
Ideals encourage limitless will.
Like beacons to our destiny within the infinite,
like stars that inspire this journey
amid life's challenges,
ideals realize themselves.
